Frenchman's Park

Revitalizing a historic park by enhancing accessibility,
celebrating history, and embracing sustainability.

Design Intention

  • Increased Entrances: Expanded from two to five to improve neighborhood access and address parking limitations.

  • Historic Features: Installed a dry creek bed under the historic bridge and plans to excavate the historic weir for seating to enhance historical connection and views.

  • New Gathering Area: Established near the main entrance to boost park usability and visitation.

  • Environmental Adaption: Replaced water-intensive redwoods with drought-tolerant gray pines, creating a contemplative area that respects the park's environmental and historical context.
